As Cyclone Fengal approaches the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, residents are bracing for heavy and widespread rainfall. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone is expected to intensify over the next 24 hours and move north-northwestward. It is likely to make landfall between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram on the morning of November 30.
IMD officials predict moderate to heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu over the next two to three days. The cyclone is also expected to bring strong winds and turbulent seas, making it crucial for coastal residents to remain vigilant.
Schools and Colleges Shut in Puducherry
The Puducherry government has announced that all schools and colleges in the region, including the Karaikal area, will remain closed on November 29 and 30. This decision aims to ensure the safety of students as heavy rains and strong winds are forecast. The closure applies to all government-aided and privately managed educational institutions.

Indian Navy on High Alert

As of now, the cyclone’s deep depression is situated approximately:
- 310 km southeast of Nagapattinam
- 410 km southeast of Puducherry
- 480 km south-southeast of Chennai
