Kinder Morgan, a major energy company based in Houston, has big plans for Texas. The company announced a new pipeline project called the Trident Intrastate Pipeline. This pipeline will cost $1.7 billion to build.

Pipeline to Span 216 Miles

The Trident Pipeline will stretch 216 miles. It will start in Katy, Texas, and end in Port Arthur. Once completed, it will carry 1.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas every day. Kinder Morgan aims to finish the project by early 2027. However, they still need to get all the necessary permits and approvals.

Meeting the Energy Needs of AI Data Centers

Kim Dang, Kinder Morgan’s CEO, explained why this project is so important. Texas is home to many AI data centers. These centers use a lot of energy. The Trident Pipeline will help meet this growing demand for natural gas.

Long-Term Contracts Secured

Kinder Morgan has already secured long-term contracts for the Trident Pipeline. These contracts make the project financially stable. The company has also signed deals for two other projects — South System Expansion 4 and Mississippi Crossing. Altogether, these projects will cost around $5 billion.

Working with Landowners

Building a pipeline is a big job, and it affects local communities. Kinder Morgan is working closely with landowners along the pipeline route. The company wants to address any concerns they may have about construction.

Part of a Bigger Trend in Texas

The Trident Pipeline is not the only big energy project in Texas right now. Last month, Energy Transfer approved a new project called the Hugh Brinson Pipeline. This pipeline will deliver 2.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Why It Matters

Texas is growing fast, and so is its need for energy. New pipelines like Trident help meet this demand. They also support industries like AI, which rely on a stable energy supply.

A Look Ahead

Kinder Morgan’s Trident Pipeline is set to go live in 2027. By then, it will play a big role in fueling Texas’s booming economy. With strong contracts in place, the project is on solid ground.
